Diomidis Katzourakis
Professional experience and studies
Diomidis Katzourakis serves as the Platform Systems Lead at Waabi.ai, responsible for the Systems Engineering of the Autonomous Platform. This encompasses the entire autonomy stack, excluding behavior and decision-making, a position held since October 2024.
Prior to joining Waabi.ai, Diomidis was an Assistant Professor of Industrial Innovation on Autonomous Systems and Head of the Industrial Innovation on Autonomous (I2A) Systems group at the School of Production Engineering & Management, Technical University of Crete (TUC) in Chania, Greece (2023-2024).
From 2019 to 2023, as Systems Engineering Manager at Waymo, he led motion control and vehicle dynamics teams for autonomous ride-hailing and trucking. Earlier roles include Product Design and Controls Engineering at Apple's Special Projects Group (2015-2019) and CAE Active Safety development at Volvo Car Corporation (2012-2015).
Diomidis holds a PhD in "Driver Steering Support Interface Near the Vehicle's Handling Limits" from Technical University of Delft the Netherlands (thesis, 2012), an M.Sc. in electronics and embedded systems (Technical University of Crete, Greece, 2008), and a diploma in "Autonomous Vehicle Guidance" (University of Patras, Greece, 2006).
